June 1st @ 6:45am – As we float in the middle of the sea, with no land in sight, the ship is our world. But our presence here appears to be of immense interest to the legions of albatross that roam the open ocean. Looking off the back deck, you can see a train of floating albatross as far as the eye can see. It is almost as if a container ship lost a full load of hunting decoys. There have also been a number of seals following the ship, playing in the waves, and I am convinced that our vain attempts to capture a picture of these playful critters is a running joke amongst them.
